If you are an international or postgraduate student, the tuition fee increase will not affect you.

If you are an undergraduate paying tuition fees at the home fee rate, your annual tuition fees will increase following the Department for Education's announcement about changes to university fees and maintenance loans for the 2025-26 academic year.

If you are a full-time undergraduate home student, your fees will increase by £285 per year, from £9,250 to £9,535, from September 2025.

If you are a part-time or accelerated undergraduate home student, your fees will increase by 3.1% from September 2025.

If you are funded by a government student finance provider (such as Student Finance England), your tuition fee loan will continue to cover the full tuition fee amount. If you have a maintenance loan, you will automatically qualify for an uplift in support for the 2025-26 academic year, which will continue to be paid to you directly.

University Alliance has teamed up with the student money experts at Save The Student to explain what this change means in more detail – including how the increase will affect your loan repayments.
