We would like to remind those students currently studying on a student visa that they are prohibited from working full-time during term time. This is due to the UK immigration rules set out by UKVI. On your return from the Easter vacation period, students enter the revision period, and then the examinations and assessments weeks. If you are a postgraduate student, it is likely that you will be working on your dissertation, and therefore still considered as 'in term-time'.
Please refer to the official University Term Dates, and to the university guidance and advice on working in the UK during term time. If you are a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Engineering & Science, the dates in your programme handbook will be most accurate and up-to-date. Please make sure to read these dates carefully before making any plans and ask your faculty if unsure.
You can also access advice from one of the University's international student advisers on this topic by visiting one of our Visa Advice Workshops (select ‘Work Conditions’ for the workshop session).
Important: your faculty cannot confirm whether you can work full-time or not, but they can confirm your term-time and vacation dates, which can guide you to staying compliant with your visa conditions.
