Once you’re fully registered we send automatic confirmation to Student Finance England (SFE) to begin the process for your funds to be released. It  normally takes around five working days after registration has been confirmed to SFE for your maintenance payment to be processed. This can vary at busy times of year.

However there can be a number of reasons for a delay in receiving your maintenance loan including:

  1. New students are not fully registered.  New students need to complete Online Registration, have their ID and qualifications checked and have collected their ID cards to be fully registered (Continuing students just need to complete Online Registration).
  2. The term has not started yet.
  3. The name the university has (including middle names) don't match with SFE records.  If the student is continuing and gone through a name change over the summer they will need to visit a Student Centre with evidence of the name change
  4. SFE have not received or are still processing the application, including asking for more evidence
  5. The university has not received confirmation that the SFE are going to provide a Tuition Fee loan this year
  6. The student has not requested one of the loans or the full amount of tuition (e.g., they may have only requested a Tuition Fee loan and not a maintenance loan).
