We recognise the need for some postgraduate research students to work and generate income during their studies. All our students are able to take up employment, but please note, full-time students are expected to devote at least 35 hours per week to their research degree within a normal working week (interpreted as between the hours of 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday) throughout the year.
Before considering employment, you should think about the following:
- How will your employment affect your ability to study?
- Will your income affect your student benefits?
- For international students: please check the conditions of your visa.
To learn more, please refer your Postgraduate Research Student's and Supervisor's Handbook and see Section M: Employment and Income Generation.
